I love it! I might use it as a MN for my own son. I would use it as a FN, but I imangine a lot of people woulc have trouble pronouncing and spelling it.

It's growing on me.It's actually found its way onto my list. As for usability...isn't there some celebrity who named his kid Ptolemy? It would definitely be different, but I think a boy could grow into it. Maybe you could call him Tolly while he's a kid.

I think it would work better as a mn. There is a strong connection with the Egyptian Pharaohs with me, I don't know how well known that would be for others. It's not a bad connection, just a strong one.Nathan Ptolemy

Personally, I think it's starting to freak me out, how many other people (relatively) have brought up this name recently. That said, Ptolemy's pretty much my second-favourite name after Morpheus. I like it, but only for me. ;-PArray

I think Ptolemy would just be the coolest thing ever. I'm a big advocate for rather pretentious names, especially in the fn slot. Others might think it's a bit much, but I think it's wildly fantastic. How about Isaac Ptolemy or Ptolemy Julian?

Nice combos!I love Issac Ptolemy and i would probably go with Ptolemy JuliusThanks!:0)

I don't like it as a fn because I feel like it's overwhelming. You'd definitely want to stick with a "normal" name as the other half of his given name.Ptolemy Richard
Ptolemy Andrew
Ptolemy James
Ptolemy William
Ptolemy Gabriel
Ptolemy Cameron
Michael Ptolemy
Daniel Ptolemy
Aaron Ptolemy
Samuel Ptolemy
David Ptolemy
