[Opinions] WDYT of Chester?
WDYT of Chester for a boy? I think it's adorable but it's a bit of a GP considering when I told my sibs they laughed. :P I'd definitely consider using it.

It is adorable and has a lovely olden day charm although I wouldn't use it myself. I love the nn Chet. It's rather funky.

Ches(s) or Chet would be cool nn's, but the Chester the molester thing is definitely a reason not to use it for me. :-/ A local newscaster had twins in our NICU, both boys, named Chester and William "Will". As far as I know, they still call the one Chester, and not a nn (they're almost 2 years old now). Both names are family names. Chester got a few snickers from my co-workers in the NICU, and one male nurse and I did start calling the baby "Chester Copperpot" occasionally, which is from "The Goonies". It was out of love, at least on my part, though.
[We really aren't awful people, trust me. ;)]

I love it, but my brother has a dog who he named Chester after one of the charcters in the movie, "Dude, Where's My Car?", so I couldn't ever use it now! My parent's are so thankful he used the name, let me tell you!

Okay, i know no one will like this suggestion, but IMO, I do not like Chester... but I like Chet. Does that sound awful?

We had a rhyme around here growing up: "Chester, Chester, the child mo-lester." Other than that, I don't like it; it reminds me of the dude from Linkin Park, which, in my humble opinion, is a horrible band.

ditto on molesterMy husband actually says "Chester the molester" when there's an abuse case on tv or something. I think it's a pretty common phrase.

Me, too.And aside from the molester/Linkin Park associations for me, I also know a bunch of dogs named Chester. I think it's kind cute on them, but not so much on a person.

I say it too...I've said it over on the lounge more than once when some idiot child has posted her full name or othe rvery peresonal information and appears to be begging for somebody to contact her.Somebody once told me that a long time ago Hustler magazine had had a cartoon about a "dirty old man" who was called Chester the Molester. No idea whether the cartoonist coined the phrase or was just building on something he'd heard.

I remember that, lolAnd now I also remember the story with the cartoon.

Was there an actual Chester the molester or is it just a silly rhyming thing?

I heard it started in jail. Just as an expression.. "That new prisoner is 'Chester the Child Molester.' "I randomly looked it up and found this...

Probably just a coincedence his name was Chester, he's probably not the one who iniated the expression.

I think it's cute for a cat, but I'd have a hard time taking it seriously on a person in real life. Beinga big fan of James Howe's Bunnicula series, I associate it with the overly imaginative, smug cat Chester who was always out to get Bunnicula the vampire rabbit.

Cute! It's completely nerdy, and I wouldn't give it to my child. But if someone else could pull it off, I'd be delighted to see it.

Dude, where's my car?One of the guys in the movie was named Chester, and now that's all I can think of when I hear the name.

It's ok but it reminds me ofChesterfield Sofa and White Rabbit in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland(in a book I read that his names is Chester)

Because I am a bit of a history buff, I think of Chester Gilette, who killed his pregnant girlfriend by drowning in 1906, because she was pressuring him to marry her, was executed for it, and upon whose story An American Tragedy was based. But even if were not for that association, which I am sure most people would not make, I would not like the name. I find it somewhat absurd.

I'd keep it as a GP.
It makes me think of a cat. I don't think it's usable.

Cute - I like it.

I love Chester! ♥

I like it lots- reminiscent of the jazz age and all that. There's also a very pretty part of Nova Scotia called Chester, a great association for the name. Just make sure he gets "Chet" or "Ches" for a nn, not Chesty!
