[Opinions] Carey and Carrie
I notice whenever I suggest Carey, several people seem to say that 'Carrie' would be the female alternative (or better for a girl)I'm from the UK, and Carey and Carrie are pronounced quite differently here, so it confused me... do they sound the same to you? Also... any middle names for Elektra?

I'm from Australia and here we pronounce them differently too. Carey is CARE-ee, whereas Carrie is like carry, like you're carrying something. I think a mn for Elektra should be something short and sharp. Something like Ivy, Sky, Faye, Hope, Zoe, Belle, Mae, Pearl, Paige.

My coworker's husband's name is Carey. I have a cousin named Carrie. They both pronounce their names the same way. Though I think if you like the spelling of Carey, it would be fine that way for a girl. I think Carrie originally was a nickname for Caroline and the like.

I've always pronouced them the same way (CARE-ee). In fact, I have a friend named Carrie whom we call Carebear :)

They are quite different to me. I'm Scottish. I like Carey very much; Carrie I find boring.

I pronounce Carey and Carrie the same (both CARE-ee), although to me Carey would be masculine and Carrie would be feminine. I live in Michigan (USA) and I've never heard anyone pronounce them differently. Not that they couldn't be. :)

Carey and Carrie do sound the same to me. That being said, I consider Carey to be a boys' name and Carrie to be a girls'. All around, though, I think the name seems more feminine than masculine, and so, I only like it for a girl. It's one of my favorites, actually :-)

I don't pronounce them differently, but I know that a lot of people do. Carey is CARE-ee and Carrie is CAH-ree (short "a" like "cat"). I live in the US, and things like that tend to be regional.

Carey and Carrie are like different spellings of the same name to me. I would pronounce them exactly the same. But then I'm in Virginia, USA. So that might be why.
