Help[Opinions] Seattle?
I was talking to a friend at work yesterday and she was telling me how she's always kind of liked the name Seattle for a girl. Of all of the place names being used for children these days, this was one I had't heard of yet. Also...met a little boy named Hatley. I'm not much on Seattle, but Hatley is awful! WDYT?

Hatley is really nms for a boy. I don't care for it for a girl either but I do like Hadley as a girls' name. Seattle is ok but not something I would use. It seems better suited for a male. It would be a good way to honor Chief Seattle (especially if you had Native American roots).

I've heard that one before and I still cringe.
I'm ok with far a way place names like Paris, London, Egypt but only if they hold a special meaning to the people.
But not ones so close and obvious like Seattle, Brooklyn, Manhattan.
On the other hand, place names like Virginia, Carolina are totally fine because I dont even think of a place.
I just realized how weird I am about that...

You're not weird
There are names of places, like Virginia, Georgia, Carolina, Adelaide, which are after a person. So they are not felt as "place names". I believe that Georgia was after King George, Carolina after King Charles, Virginia after Queen Elizabeth I (sometimes called the "Virgin Queen). Paris is actually a perons's name in Greek mythology (he was a prince of Troy).
But Londen feels like a placename only. And Seattle does not even sound good. To me, it sounds very abrupt and not handsome enough to be a fn.

Adelaide is a city in Australia
But I am sure that the city was named after a person, not the other way around. Adelaide is an old name.

Seattle does not sound feminine. I'm ok with place names but not so much if it _only_ has the connotation of that place. Well, there's also Chief Seattle- who was _male_. Another name beginning with Sea-?
