Unfortunately, I can't keep from seeing the word "scar" in there. That will probably never change either. It's sad, but it's the truth.

I prefer Scarlet, I don't know why but Scarlett seems a bit... slutty to me. I always think of a stripper or an adult film star.

except a little different order: Johanson, O'Hara, color, Letter, Fever.
I don't care for it. I think of it as a Jezebel type name, mostly from Scarlett O'Hare, I suppose.

I've always loved it. It's beautiful.
I just don't love it enough to actually name a child Scarlett (unless my future husband loves it to death ;)).
I think it's classy, very "novel-y", simply beautiful.

I'm totally with you on this one! I really want to like the sound of it because, aesthically, I love it! It just looks so pretty... but it falls short for me... I think it's because I've known/ heard of two Scarlett's personally in my life, and they both got stuck with the nn Scar... NOT attractive at all.

I love the name Scarlett, and always have, but for a long long time I felt it was too associated with Gone With the Wind to use. I love Gone With the Wind, but I just felt that it would be rather embarrassing to use a name that was so obviously inspired by the best-selling novel of all time.
But now that Scarlett has actually started being used, and I guess all it took was a few brave intrepid souls to take the lead, I think it's a great name all around.

I found Gone with the Wind extraordinarily dull, but I adore Scarlett as a name. It's biggest flaw is an increase in popularity as of late, but I still love it.

It must be a man thing. Every man I've ever met has either never attempted to read Gone With the Wind, or attempted it and couldn't finish it. While every woman I've ever met has loved it. Except my mother-in-law. Who is really a man anyway.

I like this name and am starting to like it more and more recently. My mom's favorite movie is Gone with the Wind and although i don't like that movie or that character, I sometimes wonder if that has something to do with my like for this name

I don't like Scarlett. I dislike the sound of it especially because of the word scar being in there. However, despite that I can see the appeal of the name..... I guess it is just a name I personally wouldn't use but would be happy for someone else to

I find it trashy. I loved the book / movie "Gone with the Wind." But I can't take a romance novel heroine's name* seriously. Plus, it always bugged me that the color scarlet was misspelled.
* I love Melanie because it exists outside the four corners of the book in my mind. Scarlett is so tied to Scarlett O'Hara and that's why I can't get the association out of my head. I formed this opinion way before the lovely Ms Johannsen (sp?) became famous and so it's carved in stone in my head.

Aack! You insult! Gone With the Wind is not a romance novel. It's an historical novel. It does not have a formulaic plot, there is no illicit sex (just a little illicit kissing), and no graphic sex scenes. Its historical scope is much wider than a romance novel's. Its "love story" is completely atypical of a romance novel's in that the heroine is not in love with the hero until the very end of the book, wastes her attention on a weakling, and there is no happy ending.
I don't say it's great literature, but it's not a romance novel.

I like it, but its not a name I would use personally. Its mostly my love affair with 'Gone With The Wind' that does it for me. I do know a Scarlett and it is a lovely name for her. She has two sister's called Sigrid and Cleo. (I think thats a cool sibset btw.)
