Interestingly enough, I had a great-aunt named Aunt Tessy. This was not her given name. My grandfather gave her the nickname (he nicknamed all his in-laws) and it just stuck. Everyone knew her by Tessy and not her real name which was Clarissa. So for me, Tessy is a very tender and loved name in our family.
Honestly, I would not pair it with Samantha. For some reason it does not make sense to me and does not flow, IMO. Like I have said before, am not good with pairing mn with fn (have always left that up to my husband)... but IMO, I would think that a one syllable strong mn would go better than Samantha.
