[Opinions] Memphis is actually a girls' name from Greek mythology
in reply to a message by Joan-Ay
I don't know if the parents knew it or not but Memphis was the name of a nymph from Greek mythology.
"In Greek mythology, Memphis was the wife to Epaphus, mother of Libya and sometimes the daughter of Nilus. She and her husband were the legendary founders of Memphis, which bears her name."
"MEMPHIS was the Naiad Nymph of the well or fountain of the Egyptian city of Memphis. She was a daughter of the River Nile, who married Epaphos the founder king of her name-sake city."

Yes, I've posted that before
I find it funny that all these parents keep naming their sons that and it has even made it to the US top 1000 names for boys.

I didn't realize it had made the top 1000 for boys. That's funny.
I didn't mean to steal your info and post it again. I didn't realize it had been said here before.

No worries. :-) What is just as funny is that it didn't make the top 1000 for girls.
Interesting! :-)
