A couple nights back, I was out to lunch with a friend and I told her I loved the name Charlotte Niamh. She said, "Oh, what a British-sounding name!" And that got me thinking...what are 'british sounding names', in your opinion?

I personaly love british names. Charlotte may be old-fashioned but I don't know about British! And Niamh certainly isn't! Celtic all the way!

You forgot Hermione

I don't think it is common in UK, but more common than in USA. I know of a British actress with this name. (In "Cold Feet")

Most of my favorite names sound very "British" to most Americans, so I know what you mean. I don't see Charlotte or Niamh as terribly 'British', though (actually, Niamh is just very Irish, lol).
