[Opinions] Re: Laurie or Lori?
in reply to a message by LadyBug18
My name is Laurie, and people pronounce it both Law-rie and Lor-ee, and I respond to both. I think the classic Laura is always the best bet and have often lamented that my parents chose Laurie over Laura. Lauren is very pretty but again, Laura to me is the classic form.
I think now Laurie/Lori sounds very dated, very 60s/70s. There were 2 Laurie's and 2 Lori's in my h.s. class.
My middle name is Anne, very appropriate for anyone with Scottish heritage, as there is an old scottish ballad "Annie Laurie". (Laurie in that instance being a scottish surname).
Except for Lara, which I don't consider related to the Laurie/Laura string of names, I don't like any of the other spellings you listed, especially Laurel or Lorelei, I've just never liked these names.
And no, I would never ever use Lawrence/Laurence for girl. It is strictly a boy's name.
