[Opinions] Aslan and Achilles?
Am I the only one who likes Aslan and Achilles? I think they have such cool sounds, and who doesn't love the references? Achilles - the greatest Greek warrior. Aslan - the mighty lion in one of the most famous children's books ever written. Thoughts on Aslan and Achilles? Combos, maybe?

Yes, Aslan, and yes, AchillesYou're not the only one who likes these. I only have a couple of Aslan combos, both as mn's, but I have several for Achilles, though mostly as a mn, and mostly in rather fanciful combos.Derek Aslan (I don't know why I like these together, seems counter-intuitive, doesn't it?)
Liam Aslan (though this seems painfully obvious, perhaps)Achilles Hawking
Achilles Phoenix (I like the idea of Achilles rising!)Archer Achilles
Cade Achilles
Constantine Achilles
Derek Achilles
Phoenix Achilles

I think Aslan is lovely, thanks to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Achilles is nms though.

I don't like these names. Aslan will always be compared to a mythical Jesus lion, and Achilles will be teased for being weak. Just read the myth about Achilles' tendon.

I like Achilles, but it's so hard to make combos for.Achilles Prometheus is the only one that comes to mind. I don't really like Aslan that much.

Aslan is too Narnia imo. I actually dislike the books, so I may be a bit biased.Achilles is too well known to be taken seriously. If you like the Greek warrior idea..
Evander: In Roman mythology, Evander was a hero who brought the pantheon, laws and alphabet to Rome before the Trojan War. Evander was born to Mercury and Carmenta, and his wisdom was beyond that of all Arcadians.Aeneas: The hero of the Roman poet Virgil's epic Aeneid. Aeneas, the Trojan son of Anchises and Venus, wandered for years after escaping from the ruined city of Troy.Damon: The legend of Damon and Pythias symbolises friendship amd loyalty.Hector: Hero of Troy in the Iliad.

I'm not a huge fan of the Christian tone of the books, but I enjoyed the books themselves as a child. I like the names more for the sound than for anything else. I'd never use them. :)

I love the sound of Achilles, but hate the character. He was a great warrior, yes, but he was also the whiniest and cruelest character in the Illiad. But, like I said, I do love the sound of Achilles. Maybe Achilles Maximilian? Aslan, not so much, there is just no appeal in it for me.

I rather like Achilles, but Aslan is just CS Lewis, and the character's Christological connotations would make it weird to use.

I really do love Achilles. I've loved it as a name ever since I discovered about the Greek god, who was darn cool. I'm not as wild about Aslan, but that's just because of the sound. I can forsee a lot of butchering into such forms as Asslan.

I prefer Achilles per favor...
Achilles Odysseus
Achilles Telemachos
Achilles Paris
Achilles Neoptolemos

Achilles Odysseus might be a bit much, but it's amusing. :)
Achilles Telemachos has a very interesting rhythm.
Achilles Paris... Isn't that asking the kid to try to kill himself? ;)
Achilles Neoptolemos is interesting, too.Thanks!

I like Aslan [m]I don't see why Aslan cannot be used, love the lion.Aslan North comes to mind

Aslan is far too associated with Narnia to be used; it just sounds silly. It would be like naming your kid Voldemort. Seriously. Achilles is much better, I personally love the name.
