[Opinions] Re: Raniya

It sounds trashy to me. I know it's a legitimate Arabic name, but it just has so many trendy name elements (Ray, the Ay-EE-uh pattern, a Y) that it washes over me and seems dull, empty, and uneducated.

It's not RAY-nee-uh
I didn't realize that everyone will pronounce it Ray-nee-uh. It's Ruh-nee-uh (in the first syllable the vowel is something like "a" in the word car, but shorter). And the "r" in Arabic doesn't sound like the English "r", but like the Spanish one. I think that the pronounciation itself makes a lot of difference... When it is pronounced the English way I must admit that it sounds trashy.
