[Opinions] Shaul
I saw the name Shaul on a girl a while ago and... well... I'm torn:I can't decide if I hate it or if I think it's the coolest thing I've ever heard (don't you hate it when that happens :-P). I haven't really been able to find much info on the name and I was concidering asking on the facts board if anyone know anything about it. But, in the end, I decided I'd get reactions on the opinions board instead (Let's face it, it's just so much more fun over here). So, tell me what you think. Oh, and I'm going to be out of town this weekend so if you ask me someting and I'm not replying it's not because I hate you, it's because I'm out of town :-)-Miles

To me it just looks like a misspelling of shawl, and wouldn't sound much different to naming your daughter poncho, pashmina or cape lol.I've heard something similar-sounding on boys (variation of Saul?) but never on a girl. It just doesn't work for me, sorry.

I had an evil history teacher whose last name was Shaull when I was a senior. I dreaded her class every day; she very obviously played favorites, she was hypocritical, she made several students cry (myself included), and she was picky to the point of ridiculousness. I've heard very similar things from other people who have had her. My boyfriend decided not to take AP US history just so he wouldn't get her as a teacher (and was glad he did so when all his friends did terribly on the test). So not only is it an unattractive surname on a girl, I have terrible personal associations with it. Obviously, I think it's awful. ;DPlus, a shawl (pronounced the same way, I'm assuming) is an article of clothing. Would you name your kid Sweater? Or Sock?

It's awful on a girl!
The Hebrew pronunciation is attractive - Shah-uhl. The boy's name Saul.
