[Opinions] Linnea
What problems, associations (good and bad), possible teasings do you see for the name Linnea on a girl? How would you pronounce it (please include emphasis)? (it's pronounced lin-AY-a)

Lin-NAY-uh
I actually live next door to a Linnea, who is about 35. I don't see any problems with it ... except it apparently has an ambiguous pronunciation, which I guess is significant.

Linnea is a gorgeous name. I pronounce it lin-AY-uh. I can't think of any possible teasings aside from Neigh Neigh.
lin-AY-uh or LIN-ee-uh
I don't see any teasing potential based on the name itself. I pronounce it lin-AY-uh or LIN-ee-uh, based on what name it's paired with. (ex- I like "lin-AY-uh" Catherine, but Cara "LIN-ee-uh").

I pronounce it lin-NEE-uh, since I used to know a Linnea who said it like that. I can't think of any teasing.
It's not pronounced "lin-EY-a" if you've got a long "i" sound in the middle. I can't tell. I've always heard it pronounced "li-NAY-uh." Perhaps we are saying it the same way.
I can only think of good associations with the name. No name is tease-proof, but I can't think of any obvious ones right now.
Linnea has a light, airy quality to it. I picture a field of Scandinavian wild flowers when I think of it. :-)

I don't see much teasing potential. I think it's a very pretty name. I say Lin-NAY-uh. How are you pronouncing the middle syllable in your pronunciation? AY or EE?
AY. ay and ey are very similar, ey is slightly more closed.
I've known one girl with this as a fn, and two with it as a mn. And when it was a first name, she pronounced it Lin-nay-ah, but the two who had it as a mn pronounced it as just Lin-nay. I think either pronunciation can be correct.
I think it is very pretty.

where's the accent in those pronunciations?
Lin-nay-ah.

I pronounce it Lin-AY-ah. I can't think of any way you could tease someone with the name; seems solid to me.
