I can't take it seriously as a name. Too Gone with the Wind. I have the same reaction to Scarlett.
Perhaps Rhett was a tradtional name before GWTW. But the character owns the name, in my mind. Sorry.

As a name it is ok, similar to names like Brett and Reid. I associate also with Rhett Butler, which may sound romantic - or not.
I think Rett would be a good nn for Barrett, Garrett or Everett.

Reminds me of 'Gone With the Wind.' It's ok other than that. Nothing special.
