[Opinions] Mazal
I've come across this name in a novel, it means luck in Hebrew (as in "mazel)mazal tov, depending on transcriptions) and I think generally used for girls. I find the meaning attractive and have a soft spot for Hebrew names, only I don't like the "maz" sound so much. WDYT?

It has been one of those Hebrew names used among the Jews of the Near East and North Africa, I believe.
I rather like it, but people round here would probably guess at it rhyming with Hazel, which just sounds odd. It makes me burst into a song of the same title, so I wouldn't ever use it.
I've never heard it as a name. I really like it, but it would clash horribly with our last name:S.
I don't think it would be mispronounced. Mazal Tov is a pretty common phrase

I also have a HUGE soft spot for Hebrew names... I'm a walking soft spot for Hebrew names... but this doesn't really work for me. To me, it's like naming your child Luck. I can't hear it without "tov" after it... and Mazal Tova would be too funny for words. That being said, Tova is lovely.
I don't like the way it's pronounced, and no one will ever get it right the first time, FYI. They're going to say MAY-zel or mah-ZAHL or something like that. It's a good sentiment, but I would say no to this.

I think it's pretty--but then, I do like the "maz" sound quite a bit. What a neat name. :D

Love it! Very rare and unique, reminds me of Hazel, which is also one of my favorite names. =3
It doesn't rhyme with Hazel at all
Mazel tov (this spelling has always been the one my family uses and I've seen it in books), is pronounced MAH-zel tohv, not MAY-zel tohv.
