[Opinions] Vance?
This was my grandfather's name and if I have a 3rd boy, I'd love to use this as a first name. I never hear it or see it anywhere. Thoughts? Opinions?I also love my grandmother's name: MaxineI used to dislike it, but them it really has grown on me, but would likely be a middle name (in competition with June for that spot - her name is Maxine June).

Vance! This was my favourite boys' name in the world when I was about 9 or 10 - I'd completely forgotten about it! At the time I think it was the name of a character in a book about a bunch of dolls living in a dollhouse that someone had built for a kid who was in a wheelchair (...I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the book, but I know it had a pink cover lol) Vance was one of the dolls, an exceptionally dashing character. I still love it *adds it to PNL* It has the grand vowel sound of Lance, but the 'v' gives it that romantic, unexpected slant that Lance doesn't have. Definitely usable.
I'm not such a fan of Maxine - anything with 'max' in it automatically goes to the bottom of my list, I just hate that group of sounds. June is infinitely nicer IMO.

ETA description of the Vance character.

Vance makes me think of Vince Vaughn and of some violent action movie/videogame character for some reason. I actually think it would make a good middle name. I kind of like the name Maxine it's cute. June is a lovely lovely name. My grandmother's names are my middle names (I have more than one middle name) and I like using family names so it's great that you want to use Vance, Maxine and June. I actually think June is really cute and you could also honor your grandma by using Maximilian for a boy!

It reminds me of "Legend of Bagger Vance" (I think that's what it's called). It's interesting. I'd say go for it! Do you have any middle name ideas? Or maybe you could use Vance as the middle name.
