Marilyn has always had some popularity, it hasn't been below 600 on the charts since the 20's. So I doubt either Marilyn Monroe or Marilyn Manson have effected it much (and I doubt Marilyn Manson would ruin popularity-- I'm sure he has fans)

yes but...
when a name is below the top 300 or let's say below the top 500 it's hardly used. At least I think so. I've never met a Marilyn under the age of 50.

In 2007, it was at 520, with 593 girls given the name. I think it still has a couple decades to go before it gets really popular again.
