[Opinions] Hopeful
What do you think of Hopeful for a girl? I'm in an idealistic mood tonight, and it feels really right to me right now.
And before you suggest, I don't like Hope for a girl (ick). I do love Esperance, but tonight, I'm interested in Hopeful.
So anyway--first name or middle name? What would you put with it?
All thoughts (aside from "Why not just Hope?", that is ;) are most appreciated. Thank you.

As a name? I can't see it.
Hopeful sounds too Puritan.
I think its awful. Its a word, not a name.
It's got a Puritan charm to it, but I think it's OTT as a first name. But I guess you can pull it off in the middle spot. I like Esperanza more than Esperance.
but not Hopeful, which is an adverb. I don't think adverbs should be names. Hope and Faith, both nouns, have a wonderful history, and useage.
Hopeful is very idealistic. I'm liking it as a middle name today, and maybe for a double-name along the lines of Mary Hopeful. I'm also inspired to create Deladis Hopeful. Deladis is the name of Emmy Rossum's character in Songcatcher, a movie that for which I have ten kinds of love. The name just rolls off my tongue like a waterfall.
As a first name, how about:
Hopeful Honeycutt
Hopeful Twilight
Hopeful Liesrl
Hopeful Soetkin (I'm trying to sell someone, anyone on this name. :))
Hopeful Nan
Hopeful Megumi
As middle name:
Katharine Hopeful
Julanne Hopeful
Marigold Hopeful
Whisper Hopeful

I knew a Thankfull and a Faithfull
So I'm pretty okay with Hopeful. I think the name would fit in well with the other various naming trends that are out there, honestly. It's not something I'd use (for my own reasons) but I can definitely see it being used. Plus the Faithful I knew ended up dropping the ful part (and she then used her middle name as well - I knew her as Kendall). Her sister, however, continued to use Thankful and was known to all by Thanks. :-D So be prepared that you could end up with a little Hope (and it's highly likely), so if you really don't like it, use it as a middle name.
Ideas. Hmm.
Tansy Hopeful is springing to mind. I'm not sure why - it's just got such a fresh and bright sound to it. I really, really like it.
In fact, that's my only suggestion and I like it well enough to steal.

I'd put something long and pretty without many harsh vowels before it. Not sexy like and self-conscious like Genevieve. Cecily-like. Uhhh. My PNL is not full of names like this. Angelica Hopeful. Alexandra Hopeful. Hortense Hopeful. *snicker*

I don't like it. Hope has never been an attractive sounding name to me, and -ful isn't all that attractive to me either, so I just generally dislike it.

I don't like the sound of the word enough to use it as a name myself, but it's alright. It's better than some other virtue names. I would choose Hopeful over Chastity or Prudence any day.
Esperance is lovely!
