[Opinions] Val
I'm liking Val as nn for boys, but I don't like Valentine so much. What other names could work for Val? WDYTO of Valerio (I'm Italian for those who don't know)? WDYTO Val in general?

Val is one of those things that I love when I hear it. :-) I wondered about the same thing, how to make it work as a male nickname. I used Walenty "Val" in a create-a-family game once and loved it; the inconsistency with the W and V didn't bother me. Ditto using it for Walery. I like Valeri / Valeriy when I say them how I want to but I can't seem to reconcile that with their listed pronounciations on this site, so Walery comes out ahead.I quite like Valerio. I love Valerian but Valerio seems less dramatic and (I think) more useable alternative.

Mm, I've never really been into Valerius/Valentine-names - they sound unfriendly IMO. But Val is very nice, overall. How about Yuval? Other possibilities I really like are Ivaylo, Juvenal, Valére, Orval, Valdemar (Waldemar), Valter (Walter), Vangelis and Vinal.

Valerio is nice but I don't like Val at all, sorry.

I think Val is fine on a boy, and Valerio is nice. I've always thought Valerie sounded like it could be a boy's name, so its male counterparts don't bother me.Other Val names:Valdemar
Valere
Valeri
Valerian
Valerius
Valéry
Valtteri
