Well, I've always thought Granite was one of the most supremely ugly words in the English language. But whatever floats your boat :P

Granite is fine for counter tops and other things of that nature, but not so much as a name. I'd stick with Grant.

No way. It's not a name for me. It would be really hard to carry, and will elicit a lot of jokes if the kid happens to be stubborn. Stick with Grant, it's a nice name.
