[Opinions] Palace
One of the things I like about my job at a call center is to look at the names of the people who call in, most of which are pretty mundane, of course. I just love it when a really unusual name pops up, which happens once in while. I've posted about them a few times already. So last night I took a call from a woman named Palace. Actually, her boyfriend called, and I told him that I couldn't access the account because it was in her name and he wasn't an authorized user, and that she would have to come on the phone, after which he said, "Okay", and then I heard him call, "Palace, you have to get on the phone because the account is in your name." I mention that to point out that's how I know that Palace is the name she actually goes by.What do you think of Palace as a name? I'd love to know the story behind how she came to be named that. There must be one.

Pallas is fine but Palace hmmmm it's alright but it does seem kind of trashy like Princess. I think Palace is kind of cool, though but if I had to choose I'd go with Pallas.

Hmm... its a little weird spelt that way but Pallas would have been awesome. Are you sure it wasn't Pallas? In any case it is original, and the sound is rather pleasing.

Hmmmm. It seems a little odd to me, but I might just need to get used to it. I see some suggesting that it might actually be Pallas, and spelled that way, it seems less odd. It caught my attention anyway.

I like Palace a lot

eh ... I don't really like Palace, but I sort of like Pallas. The problem with Palace is that it reminds me of the people that name their kids Prince, Princess, Hismajesty and so on. I don't know, I think I'm just indifferent. The sound is nice, but I can't help but think of a palace you live in.

The more I think about it the more I like it. I have always really enjoyed the sound of it (I love -al and -as - wouldn't Callus be an awesome name if it weren't a word with an unpleasant meaning?). I was initially a little :( to the idea of using the concept of Palace as a name, but I like it more and more. I definitely think this is neat.

Yeah, I thought that too.Like Athena's nickname.

That's what I was thinking too.

Perhaps her name was Pallas, which I really like. In terms of sound I think Palace is okay as a name, but the connotations would make it sorta tacky.

No, it was definitely spelled Palace. I know this because I bring the account up on the computer, and can see the name spelled out. I suppose it's possible that when she set the account up the agent may have spelled it incorrectly, but in that case I think she would have noticed that on her bill and had it corrected.

I like it. It's unique and interesting without being trashy and trendy.

I must say it's different. I'd love to know the story on that one too! After saying it a couple times out loud I have to admit I kind of like it. I like the softness of the ending.

I think it is okay. It's not my favorite.
