I am sure it is a form of Joakim
Both Kimmo and Kimi are Finnish male names and I'm sure they are forms of Joakim. Just as Timo for Timothy, Sami for Samuel, Kari for Makari, Matti for Matthias and Mikko and Mikki for Michael.
