[Opinions] Bubba
I was watching Maury Povich earlier today and there was a kid on there named Bubba. I don't mind this as a nn for a little baby (I call my 1 year old daughter this), but as a fn its a bit funny, what do you all think??? :)

Would you think Holly was a hippy name???
It's a Yiddish first name meaning "grandmother", it's amuletic so the girl will live to become a grandmom :)
It also means "doll" in Hebrew. My names book says its rather common. Too cutesy for me though.

I think it might be cute as a nn for a boy only. I think its kinda trashy as a given name.
Thinking of Bubba as a formal name has me cringing on the inside. The Maury Povich Show is just a step above the Jerry Springer in terms of quality and class so I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't just a pet name or term of endearment but rather the given name on the birth certificate. I also wouldn't be surprised if little Bubba has a brother named Cletus...
*still shuddering*

He actually had 2 brothers and a sister with normal names, Jason, Kristy and can't remember his other brother.(it was probably Cletus, lol)
Wow! His brother and sister has relatively normal names. I'm shocked. *snort* Was Bubba the youngest of the siblings? I've found that many times, the youngest of a sibling set is always given a pet name like Bubba or Bubby by the parents or the older children because the given name is hard to pronounce. Hopefully, this is the situation, lol. I'd hate to imagine any child saddled with Bubba as their formal name. (I'd hate it, but I'd laugh at it, too, LOL). :o)
No, he was the eldest, he was 12. I'm pretty sure its his real name but lets hope not for his sake.
