What do you think of Louisa? It surprises me that Louisa isn't popular at all (not even in the top 1000) because it has everything that is so fashionable at the moment. It ends in an "a" sound, has three syllables, is a classic that hasn't been used for a while, has the cute nickname of Lulu and sounds similar to popular names such as Olivia and Lydia. For some reason I don't even see it making a comeback and I just don't know why.
Do you think it will become more popular? Do you prefer Luisa? or Louise/Luise? Do you like Lou or Lulu as nicknames? Do you know anyone named Louisa etc and how old are they?

I love Louisa, and would love to use it, but my husband knows someone named Louis that he hates. That said, I know three Louisa's. One who is oh, maybe mid-60's, and one who is around 18, and then I know a little 3 year old name Louisa, who is absolutely adorable, and goes by Lulu. I also know one Louise. I hear the name and think of little woman, and of all things classy. For some reason, I also think of the name Charlotte, and think Louisa Charlotte would be a beautiful combo.

I really like this name a lot and I'm also surprised that it's not popular. It does seem to have the qualities that some modern day parents are after. I think it may become more popular over the next few years though, as there's lots of potential. Lulu is my fave nn for Louisa, I love it. Don't know anyone with this name, but I have known a couple of girls named Louise.

I love Louisa (occasional nn Lou and Lulu). It's in my top ten for girls.
I also like Luisa and Louise, but definitely prefer Louisa.

I've got to be honest: I think Louisa is a nerdy and unattractive name. I only knew one Louisa my entire life, and she was a very mousy, yet snobby girl who didn't want to talk to anybody. So the name has left a bad taste in my mouth, so to speak.
But even if it weren't for her, I wouldn't think it was a pleasant name. It just sounds...I dunno...sick to me. Like the name of some minor affliction: "Oh, I can't come into work today, I have louisa."

As far as future popularity, it might get used more than it is now, but I can't see it becoming the next Ella, Elizabeth, etc. (Even though, they were probably used around the same time period.) The only spelling I like is Louisa. Louise is nice but I'd rather see it as a mn. I think Lulu is a cute nn for it.

Louisa is a favorite of mine. I've loved it for a while and am so thankful that it's not showing any signs of gaining in popularity. Lou is my favorite nickname for it. I'm usually not one for unisex names, but I find that Lou can be very feminine in an unconventional way. Lulu is a bit frilly for me.

I think it's really cute, but I don't foresee it making a comeback, either. It doesn't seem to fit the trend as well as a lot of other names.
I like the spelling Louisa more than Luisa, and both better than Louise and Luise. Lou would be a nice nn, but I had a dog named Lulu, so I personally would never use that one.
