[Opinions] WDYTO Arvid?
I've recently discovered that Arvid is a family name in my husband's family. I think I like it; it's unusual but easy to pronounce and sounds sort of like David to me. I'd love to hear others' opinions on it!

I almost love it!I actually like it...a lot...*adds to PNL*. I never heard of it before, either, which is good because I need more boys' names to like. Doesn't really sound like David to me.

I don't care for it personally, but I'd consider it as a middle name because of the family connection. The only Arvid I can recall was a stereotypical nerd in an old sitcom called Head of the Class.

I like it. I see it as a traditional, strong name. If it's a family name I think it would be a great middle name but I see no reason why you can't use it as a first name. Nice name.

I'm fairly certain Arvid is a character in the movie Swing Kids.... That's what it makes me think of anyway. We had to watch it in Holocaust class at school, so I wasn't paying full attention, but the name did catch my eye (or ear?). I don't remember what the character was like with any sort of credibility, but I think he is a frustrated and stubborn teen who walks with a limp and has a great passion for music. Now that you've mentioned it, it does have some similiarties with David. I wouldn't have thought of it myself; I was connecting it to Astrid. Because of the movie though, it makes me think of music before anything else.As for my opinions, I'm rather neutral. I highly doubt I'd use it myself, although it might find its way into some combos in a minute. :]

I don't know why but I pictured a girl when I first read the name. After I thought about it it makes sense as a boy name. What sort of nn did you picture?
