I'm really in love with this name. According to my friend Amos, it's quite common in Israel. I know it as the name of the flower and much prefer it to the English standards... Lily, Rose, etc. Not to say they're not lovely, because they are.

Anyway. Pronounced kah-lah-NEET, what would be some combinations you'd suggest? What do you think of the name? Usable in the States?

I love this name but agree that it would be better as a mn away from Israel. Julia's suggestions are awesome!

I think it's lovely and I like it a lot. However, I don't think it's usable as a first name. It would make a nice middle name, though.

Tova and Toba would be either ridiculously confusing or a nice way to honor your mom. Maybe you could ask her what she thinks about it?
