[Opinions] Jessica
What do you think of Jessica? Pretty or overused and soon to be dated? How many Jessicas do you know and how old are they? Do you happen to know their middle names or nicknames?
Do you think this name will make its way out of the top 100 anytime soon and be usable again? Can you see it sounding really dated soon (like Chelsea) or will it remain fashionable (like Rebecca).
Which nicknames do you like for Jessica? Jessie or Jess?
Do you prefer Jessie or Jessa on their own? Do you think they're too nickname-ish? I kind of like both of them on their own. Would it be just like giving her the popular name of Jessica because all Jessicas go by Jessie?
Do you like Jennica? Do you know anybody named that and how do they spell it?
Do you like Jessamine? Jessamine nn Jessie or Jessa, maybe? Do you prefer Yessica?
Any other names that are similar to Jessica but not as common?
How about:
Daisy Jessica
Ada Jessica
Emmeline Jessica
Lola Jessica
Brooke Jessica

I like the name Jessica. I'm confused about it though. When I was a kid I thought of it as a really common name, but over time I came to think it's a bit dated. It may stick around as a classic though. I'm really not sure.
I know about 10 Jessicas in their early-mid 20's (including Jessica Marie, Jessica Natalie and Jessica Beth). I know one Jessica who is 16 and two more who are about 10. I don't know anyone else's middle names.
Most of the Jessicas that I know go by Jess. A few use Jessica (including the two younger ones) and one goes by Jessa. I like Jessie, but the only Jessie I know is just Jessie (as her full name). She's 27. I've always though it was a bit nickname-ish. I think Jessa is better on its own than Jessie.
I don't know anyone named Jennica, but I do know one Jannica.

I like Jessica although I do think of it as an 80's name but only because I was born in the 80's and went to school with about four of them. One was Jessica Rose, she went by Jess but the other three were usually just Jessica. I think its still perfectly usable and still somewhat popular so it shouldn't be all that dated and seem more like a classic name in the future.
Which nicknames do you like for Jessica? Jessie or Jess? I prefer just Jessica but Jess and Jessie aren't bad.

I don't really like either on their own but Jessa seems more substantial than just Jessie.

Not a fan of Jennica or Yessica and I do know one of each but have no idea how they spell their names. I think Jessamine is ok but prefer Jessica.

What do you think of Jessica?
safe standard
Pretty or overused and soon to be dated?
was overused for a while, but not so much now... My friends have a pre-schooler named Jessica, but I don't know a lot of other baby Jessicas lately... too many Emmas and Emilys...
How many Jessicas do you know and how old are they?
not sure... a handful I suppose... generally in teens, 20s or early 30s (1's 34, but I think the others are all younger)
Do you happen to know their middle names or nicknames?
mns? no... nns? Jess, Jessie, Sica
Do you think this name will make its way out of the top 100 anytime soon and be usable again?
no idea
Can you see it sounding really dated soon (like Chelsea) or will it remain fashionable (like Rebecca).
It could stay if we choose to have it stay... Chelsea doesn't seem so dated to me... except that it immediately makes me think "young".
Which nicknames do you like for Jessica? Jessie or Jess?
Depends on the person and which the person in question prefers...

Well... not all Jessicas will answer to Jessie... any more than all Deborahs will answer to Debbie (I refuse to)... I think my great aunt Jessie was just Jessie and was the one who insisted on my grandma choosing a "real name" for my mum and not just a nn, so mum wound up Trudene, but is called Trudy...

Jessica is a pretty name, and I like it a lot. But...it is extremely over-popular is probably slightly dated.
I know or know of eight Jessicas. The ones that I know their middles names are Jessica Ann, Jessica Danielle, Jessica Joy, and Jessica Michelle.
Jessie and Jessa are definiely too nicknamey on their own. I like Jessie and Jess for nns.

- I love Jessica. Not only is it pretty, but it is Shakespearean, too. Because of that, I don't think that it could feel dated. I've known six Jessicas, ranging in age from 24-28. Five used Jess as an occasional nickname, and one was almost always called Jessie.

- I don't see it dropping out of the top 100 any time soon, but I think that it is still usable. I don't see it being dated.

Do you like Jennica? Do you know anybody named that and how do they spell it?
- I don't care for Jennica. It just looks like Jessica and Jennifer smooshed together. I've known one who spelled it Jenica.
Do you like Jessamine? Jessamine nn Jessie or Jessa, maybe? Do you prefer Yessica?
- I love Jessamine. I really don't like Yessica.
Any other names that are similar to Jessica but not as common?
Not that I can think of, other than the ones you've already mentioned.
Ada Jessica sounds best, imo.

Its not dated to me, I like it but I prefer Jessa or Jessamine a bit more.
I have known about 3 or 4 Jessicas including my cousin Jessica Erin. Pretty much all were teenagers or younger.
I don't like Jessie (I like Jesse for a boy) but Jess and Jessa are fine as a nn for Jessica or Jessamine. I like Jessa on its own too.
I used to know a girl named Jeska.

It is pretty but very overused and a bit boring, in my opinion. I don't think of it as being dated. I know three - one is four months old, one is aged about four, the other is nearly 30 (she was known as Jessie until her teens, she now goes by Jess). I also knew an old lady called Jessie (not short for anything).
I hear of a lot of young girls being called Jessica, not surprising seeing as it has been in the top 10 in England for the past ten years.
I think will remain fashionable for a while. It has a classic feel to it.
I like the nickname Jess or Jessie. I've never heard of Jessa but I think it works on it's own. Jessie has historically been used on it's own, with no connection to Jessica, but I'm not sure about it personally. It sounds a bit babyish.
I love the name Jessamine! I'd use Jess as a nickname.

Jessica is beautiful. And if you are worried about it being dated soon, it will be, like really hardcore. But it is beautiful and I love it and Jess and Jessie. I know several. One is Jessica Marie, one is Jessica Leandra, and one is Jessica Diana. I think Jessica Diana is just gorgeous.
I don't like Jennica at all, because I don't like the Jen sound.
Jessamine's sweet but not nearly as nice as Jessica.

Dated!
I knew so many Jessicas while growing up. I'm 26. I know one child named Jessica, and she's 8. I still wonder why her mother named her Jessica. Jessica May (maybe Mae) is her full name. She also goes by Jessie and Jessie May.
I really dislike Jessica. It sounds flimsy, dated, and I don't like the Ick sound in the name.
Jennica, Jessamine, and Jessa all sound kre8tiv / trashy IMO.
I like Ada Jessica and Emmeline Jessica the best of your combos.

What do you think of Jessica? Pretty or overused and soon to be dated? How many Jessicas do you know and how old are they? Do you happen to know their middle names or nicknames?
I think I personally know three (though one is a Jessika) and there are about three more I know of through friends and family.
Do you think this name will make its way out of the top 100 anytime soon and be usable again? Can you see it sounding really dated soon (like Chelsea) or will it remain fashionable (like Rebecca).
I don't know. I think it's really dated to the 80s, much like Jennifer. I think it'll remain in the top 100 some more years, and then drop out.
Which nicknames do you like for Jessica? Jessie or Jess?
Every Jessica I've ever known went by Jessie. I like it best.

I don't like Jessie on its own at all. Partly because it's too much of a nickname and partly because I had a boyfriend called Jesse and it sounds masculine to me. I'd still go with Jessica, it sounds much more dignified than just Jessie/Jessa.
Do you like Jennica? Do you know anybody named that and how do they spell it?
Blergh, no, I hate it. I hate most names ending in -ica (like the horrible mispronunciation of the lovely Danica). It sounds made up and trendy.
Do you like Jessamine? Jessamine nn Jessie or Jessa, maybe? Do you prefer Yessica?
Now that you mention it, I think I once knew a Yessica, too. I always thought it was because people were pronouncing it the wrong way, but now I think she was a Yessica. It sounds weird to me, like people were trying too hard to not use trendy Jessica and come up with something similar.
I very much like Ada Jessica. It sounds lovely.
I also wanted to say that I love the threads you post to the Name Opinions board. Your questions and everything, it's like you really think about it before and don't just ask "What do you think of this name?" That's all. :)
