I am curious about how most people pronounce these names. This site has lee-AHN and YOO-jeen. I had always pronounced them as LEE-ahn and yoo-JEEN. The polls I made agreed with me, for the most part.

So, how do you pronounce Leon and Eugene? Stating where you are from would be helpful, as well.

I'm from New Zealand, and I pronounce both of them with the same emphasis as you do.

I would probably differ on the -ahn ending of Leon though- I say ~ohn. But I have noticed that quite a few of the pronounciations listed on BtN are wrong- or I try to say them and I feel like I'm putting on a really phony American accent.

I say LE-on for sure. Not sure if I say YOO-jeen or yoo-JEEN though. Both sound right and I can't tell which I'd say if I weren't thinking about it... I'm thinking yoo-JEEN though.

I've always pronounced it LE-on and yoo-JEEN. I've never even heard Eugene pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable. Weird. I'm from Germany, but that's how I've always pictured it said in English.
