[Opinions] Richard
I like Richard for a boy. WDYT? Do you know anyone named Richard? How old are they and do they go by a nickname?
He'd always be Richard, I wouldn't use any nicknames for it. Do you think it's dated? Will it rise again in popularity or do you see it going down?

My grandfather's name is Richard. It is pronounced the Danish way (which is very similar to the German).
There is also a young Danish/German prince named Richard (born 1999). He is the son of Alexandra, Princess zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, and count Jefferson von Pfeil und Klein-Ellguth.
Prince Richard's full name is count Friedrich Richard Oscar Jefferson von Pfeil und Klein-Ellguth, but he goes by Richard. His little sister is Ingrid Alexandra Irma Astrid Benedikte von Pfeil und Klein-Ellguth.*
I only like the pronounciation of Richard in English. It is too harsh sounding for my taste when pronounced in Danish.
*) I had to look that up, I did not know that by heart...!

I love Richard. I don't think it's dated; I think of it as a timeless classic.
I don't presently know anyone named Richard.
I can only think of one person I've ever known with the name -- we went to high school together. (He never went by a nickname.)

Richard is handsome enough, I guess. I don't really like most of the nicknames though.
Oh my gosh, I know tons of Richards. So many I could never give you a number (check out it's popularity in the US). Most of them I know are older or middle aged. I had a great uncle who went by Dick, and another who just went by Richard. I think he went by Dick when he was younger though. I have another great uncle who goes by Rich. (Woah, didn't realize I had so many great uncles named Richard!) I have an uncle who goes by Rick, and my soccer coach from high school went by Rick. And I have a friend Richard from high school who goes by Rick (so he's like 22-23).
I think it would seem a bit dated on a baby boy, but not a whole lot. I could see it getting more popular again because it's a classic name, which are sort of coming back I think.
