[Opinions] Pronunciation!
Pronunciation of Eamon?! Is it, ay-min, ay-mahn, ay-moan, ee-mahn, or something else? WDYT? Which one is your favorite, and which one is correct? Thanks! :)

E before a would be ee in En, but...Therefore I'd never think Aymun when looking at that... It would have to either start with an A or be ei, but ea generally says ee or eh in En. phonetics... However, it's Irish and on the site if you follow the trail, it says it's pronounced Aymon... which means it's going to get butchered in prn. by those who aren't familiar with that name and spelling in an En.-speaking culture.

I always thought it was ee-mahnbecause I knew someone with that name. So I guess that's how I pronounce it and prefer it. However, I think that the correct pronunciation is along the lines of AY-mun.

AY-minAt least that's the way it sounds in my (Irish) accent. I guess this is similar to AY-mun?These are all incorrect - ay-mahn, ay-moan, ee-mahn. Are there really little boys out there called Ay-moan?

I've met and Eamon who pronounces it ee-mon and on who says ay-mon. so I guess both are ok.

"AY-mun".

That's right, it's a neutral vowel sound at the end.

http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/1/EamonThat link says EE-mon or AY-mon. I'm not sure if it's true, but I think it's been right for me just about every time.
