I like Soraya a lot. My mother used to know an(Irish Jewish) woman who had a daughter called Soraya. Probably the only Soraya in Ireland at the time. I was enchanted with it when she told me about it.

I think it's usable even if you don't have a Middle Eastern background - it's doesn't look particularly ethnic, Thurayya is a different matter though. I agree it has a lovely meaning.
