[Surname] Gariennos (Greek - meaning?)
Any thoughts welcome...

Is this a genuine surname?
Yes, its mentioned in writings of a 18th Century historian, referring back to events circa 1450 - 1500. Although i did not have access to the original Greek, i assume this translation to be correct?
Does this not sound plausable?

Well, I've done a search for the name on google, yahoo and elsewhere - not one reference to a person surnamed Gariennos. I've checked dictionaries for the word, not recognised. I even tried Greek wikipedia - not one result.
The only Gariennos that shows up on the net is a name the Geographer Ptolemy ascribes to the River Yare in Norfolk, England. I don't see that as being relevant.
