[Opinions] Hermione
At first after Harry Potter ( Which was where I first saw the name) I thought it to be Swotty ( geeky) and I disliked it now Im starting to like it its not too frilly , beautiful and in my opinion timeless. Only problem is Im worried about that it might be too in fashion now because of the HP books? Wdyt? Do you think its too popular now- or do people think of it the way I first did so its not that popular..
If that makes sence..anyway Wdyt?

My Aunts name is Hermione.I like it alot.I reckon it's best used as a mn.
I also like it because the namesake character is such a wonderful rolemodel, not geeky at all.If intelligence is geeky, than what a horrible world we live in.

I think Hermione is a classy name, since it dates back to Greek mythology and is used by Shakespeare.
And Hermione in the Harry Potter books is a good role model, she is very intelligent.
It might be considered trendy now, but I would not let that stop me if I really loved the name.

i love Hermione and no its not popular
I like it, but I think everyone would associate it with Harry Potter.
I think that if there was a child born now named Hermione, people would automatically think 'Harry Potter.' But a child that's born in, say, ten or more years time, when the HP craze has faded, no one will know how to pronounce it. Either way, you just can't win!

I'm also begining to really like Hermione, but I don't think it's that popular because of the Harry Potter books and movies. It may see somewhat of a surge in popularity but I don't see it ever reaching the top 50 in any country especially in the USA or Great Brittan. It has that old-world, perhaps to some old-lady and geeky feel, that people tend to stay away from. They may like the sound of it but when it comes to the point they propably won't use it for their daughter! :)
So have no fear! If you love it, and want to use it for someone you love, it will be all the more beautiful by having been chosen with love. Go for it! A Hermione would be so refeshing in the midst of Baileys, Ashleys, Kaitlyns and Rileys! :)

I love Hermione as well... and have the same fears about Harry Potter as you do. I also thought like you... thought it was awkward and kind of geeky (Kind of like Hermione Granger, huh?), but not I love it (much as I, and so many others across the globe love Miss Granger). I think the verdict is yet to be decided if there will be a huge surge of Harry Potter babies... i guess we'll have to wait til todays younger generation procreates.
But I also must say, of all the Potter names, I think Hermione is the best :)
Edited to add this thought: Do they use the same names for characters in all the various translations world wide? I was just thinking it might be quite difficult to translate Hermione or Ginerva into Chinese and such. Hmmm...
Your eyes, your smile, made my little life worthwhile. The sky was a lot more blue when I was on top of you.

I wouldn't bet on it
The kind of fanaticism over a fantasy book or book series that Harry Potter has inspired is a once-in-a-generation phenomenon. The only other book/series to have inspired such a frenzy is The Lord of the Rings. Despite the amount of time that has passed since LotR was published, it's still as popular as ever - perhaps even more so.
I believe it will be at least 100 years before people no longer automatically associate Hermione with Harry Potter. I could be underestimating, though. The series will be very popular for a very long time.

Yes, like some people still associate Alice with Alice in Wonderland, and that was written over 100 years ago.
I think most people will associate it with the Harry Potter books. But that's not the worst thing in the world.
Personally, I first heard the name on British actresses in old movies, then as a Shakespearean character. So I have other frames of reference for the name.
I've always loved it and was happy that the HP books brought it back into consideration.

I think it'll make people think of the books, but I do think it is a nice name. If you like it I say go ahead and use it, I have never actually met a person with this name.
