[Opinions] Ferdinand
Ferdinand is another old favourite. I started to like it for the meaning, but now I find the sound of it lovely as well. WDYT of it? only for characters, or suitable for a real life kid? His nn could be Ferdy...
Read, read, read, read! Let me tell you something - last time I read a book, I was raped. Let THAT be a lesson to you.

I like Ferand prn feh-RAHN. I also like Fernando with nn Nando.
Ferdinand is okay, but it reminds me of a song about a bull who "never learned to fight"! Has anyone else heard that song? Anyway it's funny.
So Ferdinand is okay, conjures up a mild mannered Spanish fellow. It's okay. I'm not very keen on the nn Ferdy, sounds like flirty or Fergie. Nope, don't like it at all! Try Nand as a nn or Nan or Ferrie / Ferry those sound better.

Ferdinand is a really cool name! It has several famous namesakes, and there are many different ways it could be shortened! It would not bea good name for a kid in todays world. Kids might start calling him Ferdy Turdy or something. He would be miserable and would want to change his name as soon as he was old enough. It would be cool for a character, though.
My opinion
I think it's O.K. Ferdinand is a very high and mighty name. Any child with this name would have their own distinct charm, considering Ferdinand is a extremely name in the States. I'll just say that I like more than most of the current popular names. Plus, i'm sick of all the -den names.
