[Opinions] Grace
ahhh I know this is super common but I can't help but like it. It's so elegant and pretty. It makes me think of Grace Kelly.
The problem is that it's a super common middle name. I think that bothers me the most. It seems like everyone has it in the middle. It wouldn't be that much of a problem but it's also common as a first name.
She would never be Gracie, just Grace.
1. Do you think it's actually common as a first name? The popularity chart lists it pretty high but I never met anyone who had it as a first name. Do you think they consider middle names?
2. Gracie has become popular on its own, do you think all the little Gracies will be called Grace for short when they get older?

1. I like Grace too, but I do think it's common. There's a Grace in my son's playgroup, several more in his daycare/preschool (not in the same class necessarily, but spread out between the newborns to the six-year-olds), and in my online "birth club" made up of about 150-200 moms there are probably 4-7 Graces and a few more Gracies. I would guess the ranking on the popularity chart is accurate, and I know it's entirely made up of first names. The SSA list, at least, does not consider middle names at all. Grace and Rose would be tied for number 1 if they did. :)
2. I've never met a grownup Gracie, but I know, if it was my name, I'd use Grace as an adult. Gracie is so babyish! I think it's safe to assume many Gracies will feel the same.
On a more positive note, at least its popularity seems to be slowly declining.

its one of my very favorite names as well. I hear it a lot as a middle name but have only ever known two people with it as a first name
I think Grace is a beautiful name (& appearently many others do too since its so popular). But i havent personally met anyone whose first name was simply Grace. I have happened across a little girl one day named Gracie & one of my grandmas nieces is named Gracie. I think this is very cute too but its little girlish. Grace is flexible b/c you can use Gracie as a nn. I think its more popular as a middle name as you said, but that doesnt put me off of it at all. Its a lovely name either way you use it.
