2) Why not? Especially if you are persistent in introducing yourself to new people as Raquel. My husband's cousin decided she wanted to be Charlotte and it stuck, in a surprisingly short while too. I have a friend Mary Eleanor who went by her second name her whole life and she decided to go by Mary when she moved here. Everyone in Ireland knows her as Mary and everyone in her home place knows her as Ellie.

a) sorry, but I find it very, very ugly. I also find it somewhat trashy, as if someone named their daughter after the supermodel Raquel Welch. Plus there's a girl in my grade named Raquel, and she's one of the biggest ditzes I've ever met.
