In the UK it gained some popularity in the '40s/'50s - probably owing to iconic Hollywood star Veronica Lake. Otherwise it's seldom used, except by Roman Catholic parents.
It's not a favourite of mine, but I don't dislike it. I like it much much more than Monica, which has a similar ending.
