[Opinions] Bono?
This’ll sound totally weird, but would Bono be an acceptable name? First thing's first; I love U2, always have, and I think Bono is a great man. His real name is Paul Hewson, by the way. When he was young, he was in a gang which gave its members nicknames. Bono's was Bona Vox (meaning "good voice" in Latin). It was the name of a Dublin hearing-aid shop. His nickname was later shortened to Bono. I like the name, but would it be cruel to name a boy after the singer in a band he might not even like? (But then again, everyone likes U2 :P). The name will be forever associated with Paul "Bono" Hewson, anyway and he's the first thing people will think about. But I definitely don't think that's a bad association, and Bono could work as a middle name, at least. WDYT?

1. I don't know who U2 is, never heard of them and never heard thier music. I've never hear of Paul "Bono" Hewson.2. To me, the name will only and always forever be associated with the late great Sonny Bono (of the famed Sonny and Cher). I think more than the majority (most) of people will think of Sonny Bono before they think of that singer.3. I don't particulary like the name, it reminds me of Bozo. I say if you want to honor him, use Paul.

I didn't think of Sonny Bono at all and I don't think that he would be the association for the majority of people. He someone that older people would think of, while Bono of U2 is more current.

I wonder how it's possible that you have never encountered any of their songs or the names. I'm not being sarcastic, I'm just surprised. I think it's worth looking up their songs on Youtube because they have some really good ones (I'm not a fan, but I think you should at least know who they are)

Maybe I will, I just have never heard of them, maybe if I heard a song I'd maybe recognize hearing the song before, but I wouldn't be able to tell you who sang it.

Why not? But for the sake of the child, as mn only (imo).

It has a really cool story behind it, but the name is just a bit silly.

I's keep it for a middle name. I think it's too associated with Bono himself for a first name. I think it'd sound good as a middle name actually. One of our neighbours was Bono's cousin and he sang at her funeral.

My first thought was actually 'bonobo'. I don't think it's usable because of the U2 singer.
