[Opinions] Leopold
What do you think of the name Leopold? Is it too pretentious? Would it be okay with the nn Leo or Poldi? What other names do you think are similiar to Leopold? What do you think of these combos:Edmund Leopold
Henry Leopold

Leopold is a touch pretentious, but the nn Leo makes it far more approachable. I don't care for Poldi at all. Two names that I think are similar to Leopold (more in feel, than in sound) are Conrad and Eleanora. I like both Edmund Leopold and Henry Leopold. Imo, pretention is not an issue in middle names.

I like it, though it is a bit pretentious. Leo is a great nn, Poldi seems a bit silly.
Alternatives are other Leo- names, like Leonard, Leonardo, Leonidas and so forth.

I think Henry Leopold is a wonderful combo! I love Leopold, its so handsome! Henry is just gorgeous as well. Edmund is a bit floppy and soppy for me though.

I quite like it even though I prefer Leonard. One of my childhood friends was named Leopold and was called that, not Leo or anything else.
Henry Leopold sounds nice :)David Leopold

I like Leopold. I wouldn't say it sounds too pretentious, but it definitely sounds regal. Like Leopold in Kate and Leopold-- it makes me think of a guy like that. I think in an English speaking place, Leo would be a better nn to use than Poldi, although Poldi is nice.Names I think have a similar feel to Leopold are Roland, Wilhelm, Friedrich, Augustin, Boniface, Theodoric, Richard, Henry, Thomas, Edward. Holy cow, Leopold and Roland would be awesome for brothers!I love both Edmund Leopold and Henry Leopold. Very nice.

Since you suggested Augustin, how do you feel about the combo August Leopold?

I don't know why I dislike Leopold so much. I adore Leo, Leonardo and Leonidas (not so much Leon or Leonard). I guess it's the 'pold' part of the name though I'm not sure why. Come to think of it, I do find Leopold more stuffy than the other forms I mentioned.Re: Edmund or Henry, I adore both. They work equally well with Leopold. I'd have to give the edge to Henry.

I gotta say that I really don't like Leonardo or Leonidas. They just aren't my style.

I think Leopold is way too pretentious. Leo is really nice though. I know Poldi is a legitimate nn it just seems really odd.I think Leander is similar and a more usable name than Leopold.
