I like Abigail, but I've never been fond of the nn Abby. I'm not sure why that is. I only know of one Abigail, an aquaintance's daughter. They call her Abby occasionally, but mostly the name in full.Abigail Mae
Abigail Louise
Abigail Dove
Abigail Marie
Abigail Charlotte
Abigail Christine*ETA: She's nearing two now.

I love Abigail! I knew a couple Abigails in high school (Class of 2007) and I know little Abigails all under 13. I had a book when I was younger about a girl named Abigail that had to wear a tie around her neck to keep her head from falling off. My older brother was like, "Do you like the name Abigail?" and I thought it was the ugliest name ever back then. But now, I think it's absolutely gorgeous!I love Abby / Abbie / Abbey as nns. I don't care how popular it is...it's a great name. :)

I very much dislike this name. I won't say that I dislike it as much as I do Madison or McKenzie, because it does at least have a history, a tradition, it's Biblical, and it has an eighteenth-century flavor. So I guess I'd still rather see a little Abigail than a little Madison. Still, I really dislike it just because I think it's one of the ugliest names out there. Its present popularity mystifies me. Someone here suggested that Abigail was only popular because of the nickname Abby, but Abby to me is just as unattractive as Abigail.I've never known an Abigail.
