[Opinions] Re: Tristan
in reply to a message by Maeryn
Well, Tristan might seem cute or tomboyish on a girl, but on a woman, I think it would simply seem butch. Most people are used to the convention that Tristan's a man's name.. it's still not really unisex.
The spelling Tristyn appeals to my taste even less. However, at least it notifies people before they make the embarrassing mistake of naturally assuming a female Tristan is male. I'd be in favor of spelling it this way if the bearer is female, to save her the distraction of errors, and to indicate dignity in her sex.
I think Trista is the nicest form of Tristan for a female bearer.
Not related, but somehow still interestingly, I also prefer Krista over Kristen.
