I pronounce Layla and Leila the same (LAY-la). I think I like Leila better, it seems more refreshing to me and Layla seems a little boring- I'm also not too fond of names with "ay" in them.I pronounce Leyla, Laila, and Lejla like LAY-la and Lyla, Lila, Lilah, and Lylah like LYE-la. (although I always want to say Lila like LEE-la).

I love LAY-lah, but not spelled Layla. It looks tryndee, lazy, and sloppy to me. I'd spell it Leila. I also love LIE-lah, but not spelled Leila. I'd spell it Lila or Laila. Confusing enough? ;)Lylah, Lylah, and Lilah all look awful. Leyla could grow on me, but it's needlessly complicated. Lejla is...no.

I like it (and is it really that popular?)! I'm never sure how exactly it's supposed to be pronounced. I like it pronounced the Latinate way, which sounds like the word "night" in Hebrew. I'm inclined to pronounced Lila "leela". But I'm aware there seems to be some confusion on the question. Lila's cute, but it sounds a bit childish. I like Layla better.

How does it need to be pronounced so it sounds like the word night in Hebrew?

With an open "a" sound (the kind you find in French/Italian/Spanish) if that makes any sense. Y pro. ee and stress on the first a.

I LOVE Layla. It's a shame it got so popular all of a sudden because of stupid Kayla. I also love Laelia (that I pronounce LIE-lee-ah).Layla: LIE-lah
Laila: LIE-lah
Lyla: LIE-lah
Lila: LEE-lah
Lilah: LIE-lah
Lylah: LIE-lah
Leyla: LAY-lah
Lejla: LAY-lahOut of those I like Layla, Laila, Leyla and Lejla. I also like Leila. I guess the many spellings are pretty confusing. There will probably a lot of spelling out loud going on.

Do you pronounce Leila as LY-la as well? I think most people in Germany do. So that would probably be better than Layla where some say LAY-la and some LY-la. I only worry that Leila sounds too much like "leider".Laelia looks pretty I will look it up. I think it could really grow on me.Oh and I hate Kayla ugh...

Hmmm. Actually I'd pronounce it like LAY-lah, but LIE-lah makes more sense, at least in Germany. That said, I don't think I know a single Leila. Everyone spells it Laila, Layla or Lejla, so the first Leila I'll meet will probably influence my pronunciation of the name."Leider" has never come to mind when I've heard Leila. Stupid association, but it wouldn't bother me too much.
