Does anyone know of the origins of the name Dimian (pronounced Dim-E-an)?
It could be Egyptian or Russian, not too sure.
Thanks.

I know of the Russian
Demyan
, variant of
Damian
, probably from the Greek daman 'to tame, subdue' (which was often a euphemism for 'to kill'). The pronunciation matches, so I would assume Demian would be an attempt to Anglicise the Russian form.
