[Opinions] Eamonn
I used to love it, but have forgotten about it for the past few years. Then I just watched a nostalgic childhood movie (which I just found at Target for $5! I did a happy dance in the aisle.) which has a character named Eamon, so I remembered it. Now I'm loving it again. What do you think of it? Any associations or a certain kind of image it gives you? I think it's really handsome... same kind of feel as William, Henry, and Thomas, only less medieval if that makes sense.Do you prefer it spelled Eamonn or Eamon? I prefer it with two Ns.Middle name ideas? I've got nothin'.

I love both spellings I think. It is really handsome I think. My mom had a student in her class years ago named Eamon Patrick (with a nifty Irish surname to boot).

I love Eamonn and prefer two n's just because that's the original spelling. Are you referring to "The Secret of Roan Inish?" I remember a character named Eamonn in that movie.

Yes. :)

Eamon Frederick is my little cousin's name. I prefer that spelling. I think it goes well with a lot of the solid, classic boy names: Eamon Thomas, Eamon John, Eamon Michael, Eamon Henry... and so on.

I'm not really a big fan of it, though I do prefer it spelled Eamonn.

I don't havy any strong opinions on it one way or the other. I do think I prefer it with two Ns also.

I love this name too! I do prefer it spelt with two "n"s. It's the original Irish spelling, after all. The first person I think of is Eamon de Valera (pretty obviously). I think Eamonn sounds really cool and youthful, but still quite traditional. No bad associations that I can think of. I actually plan on using this name someday. And what the hell is a "Rasta greeting"? Nobody over here would ever get that comment.

It took me like an entire minute to realize what you meant by the Rasta greeting part.I'd assume it means that Eamonn sounds like "'Ey, Mon," which is how "Hey, Man," would sound with a Rastafarian/Jamaican accent.I've never thought of that and the emphasis on the syllables is different enough that it's not at all a concern. Not that I'd use Eamonn in real life anyway, so I don't even have to worry about it.
