How about Flip? I would love love love to see that used!

My brother's name is Philip, and my mom has always refused to use nicknames for him. Our last name is Watt, so Phil Watt sounds like "Feel What?"--plus, I agree with you that it's not that great. Sometimes I call him Pip or Pippo as a joke, but I can't imagine him being called that by anyone else, especially when he gets older. I think Philip without a nickname is great just as that. I guess Phip or Philp could be a nn? Not all that spectacular, though..

Pip is the only one I can think of aside from Phil, as others have already said. I don't think it needs nicknames though, Philip is nice and not too long-- it's only two syllables. You always turn Pip into Pippin too if you like LoTR. :)

It doesn't need a nickname! But maybe the intials?
