[Opinions] Luz
WDYT of the name Luz? (I'm pronouncing it "looth") What image does it give you? Any good combos with Luz? (I used to really like it, but the movie "The Motorcycle Diaries" kinda ruined it for me. Hopefully someone will make me associate it with something else...)

I love Luz. One of the most beautiful names in my opinion. Luz is my Spanish alter-ego. If I'm in a Spanish speaking situation, sometimes I have people call me Luz. Some people have forgotten my real name as they continued to call me Luz. Because I answer to it without hesitation, I'd feel a little weird giving the name to a daughter. Plus I can only bring myself to say it in a Spanish accent, so it might come off a little weird to people if I introduce her in a perfect Spanish accent (I'm not hispanic). One of the interesting things is that it is connected to the act of birth itself. In Spanish, "to give birth" is "dar a luz," literally to give light. "Light" is a beautiful meaning enough, but "birth" adds another beautiful meaning.I pronounce it LOOS. Only in certain parts of Spain do they pronounce it LOOTH. I have more Latin American Spanish influences.I have trouble coming up with combos for Luz similarly to how I have trouble putting my true name, Amy in combos. It has such complex associations (I've used it since I was 12). But I'll give it a shot. I don't know if you want blantantly Spanish combos or what. So I'll do a bit of everything.Spanish comobos:

Luz Belen
Luz Pilar
Luz Rosario
Luz Adela
Luz Isabel
Luz Adelaida
Luz Adelia
Luz Alma
Luz Valentina
Luz Amalia

It's neat. I don't have complicated thoughts on it. La Reina wrote a story with a character named Mariluz in it, which I think is really really cool.Luz Maria

I have always liked this name. I'd never use it myself, but I appreciate its usage on other people.

I like Luz a lot, either with the "loose" or "looth" pronunciations, but you're going to end up correcting everyone. =/ Any name that has to do with light is a yes by me.Luz Araceli

I'm not sure what to think of that pronounciation. As a Spanish speaker, I want to say it like 'loose,' which sounds a bit funny in English. I do like that it means 'light' in Spanish, though. Maybe as a middle name? EDIT: Oh! I see where you got 'looth' from now. That took me a minute, haha. I wonder how many people would think to say it that way, though?
