The first Jennifer I knew was a roommate I had in college. It was very unusual in a person of college age back then. But as queenv said, you have to consider that I am much older than almost everyone else here. Anyway, at about the same time I had a roommate Jennifer, I noticed a lot of babies were being named Jennifer.
I can't count the number of people I know of my generation who named their daughters Jennifer. I know that at least a couple of these people thought they were giving their daughters a name not heard very often (!).
My stepdaughter (age 30) is a Jennifer. She was called Jennie growing up, but in her 20s decided that Jennifer sounded more mature.
My stepson dated a Jen.
They are among the countless Jennifers, Jennys, Jennies and Jens I have have encountered. Never have known a Jenna, though.
I don't think Jennifer will come back for a very long time. Someday it will be a stereotypical old-lady name.
