I could see it going into the top 1000 soon. I don't really have too many relligious associations with it, but I can see why it would. (it does have a slight Puritan feel to it). I've only known one Mercy, so I haven't seen it much.

I still think of the Puritans when I hear this used as a name; Mercy Lewis, one of the afflicted girls of the Salem Witch Trials, comes to mind. Granted, it's a good quality to have, but I don't see many people taking it seriously now.
