Which one do you think sounds better, Layla (pronounced LAY-lah) or Lila (pronounced LIE-lah)? And what's your favorite spelling of each name?

Some of the different variations I could think of:

Layla, Leila, Leilah, Leyla, etc.

Lila, Lilah, Lyla, Laila, etc.

I personally prefer Lila, it sounds sweeter. I prefer Leila and Lila as spellings. Lila is the prettiest, and I dislike the "LAY" in Layla, Leila looks prettier.

I love both names and unfortunately can't use either! Layla is my fave spelling for this name and I like both Lila and Lyla, but would probably be more inclined to go with Lila.

I like Leila, but I don't like Layla. Leyla is okay. Leia and Leya too, even though they're not really related.
I like Lilah, and maybe Lila and Lyla.

Oh and maybe

you'd like to know that Lila (pr. LEE-la) is the German word for the color "purple". Just thought it might be interesting to know. If you happen to adore the color it might be a nice bonus ;)

This is how I pronounce them. I prefer Layla for the LAY-la pronunciation, Leila for the LY-la pronunciation and Lila for the LEE-la pronunciation (even though I prefer Lila pronounced LY-la as well).

If I had to choose I'd go with Leila, pr. LY-la. My second choice would be Layla, LAY-la.

I love Leila and Layla, it's a shame they're getting so common.

I prefer Layla to Lila if it's being pronounced the way you want it. I like the Layla spelling because it reminds me of the song but Leila looks more legit to me. If Lila is being pronounced the way you want it to be, I'd prefer the spelling Lilah.

Definitely Lila! It's a beautiful name. Lila is my favorite spelling.

Layla is a decent name, but my favorite spelling of the name is Laila.

I prefer Lila pron. LIE-lah and spelled Leila, although my first instinct when I see Leila is to say "LAY-lah"!

Yeah, it's how the parents want it that matters. The same with Kailey could be pronounced KAY-lee or KY-lee; and Annika could be Ana-KA or Ann-ee-KA. That's the way of it =]
