... and her brother, Sting.
I think if you'd ever been in a room with a really annoyed hornet, you'd really go off this name. The one I got stuck in a room with was twice the size of a large wasp and had a sting about 1cm long. Not nice creatures.

NoMaybe as a MN on a boy

I think not. Not only is it achingly close to the words 'whore' and 'horny,' it's just not a pleasant or majestic association, imo.

I adore unusual wordnames, but [m]This one IMO wouldn't work, Bee would I think which is cute.

As a sincere lover of unusual word names, I still say absolutely NOT

I don't think it works at all. Hornet sounds way too close to "whore" and "horny"... neither are nicknames you want bestowed on a child!

That is quite quite horrible.

Hornet? Oh, sweet lord. No, it can't work for a name, period. Unless you're a superhero, you can't pull this one off.

No it can'tIsn't a hornet a nasty insect? Would she have siblings named Wasp and Mosquito?

Um... I don't think so. Not only would I think a hornet not the most magnificent of creatures to be named after, the word sounds too close to horny.

My thoughts exactly.

I don't think it could work, sorry. Hornets are insects and not very nice ones... They're toxic and aggressive, both features I would not wanna attribute to my daughter.
